Liars' Drum's Not Dead is my stone-cold-lead-pipe-lock USDA-Grade-A best album of the 2000s, but truth be told I think the project's run its course. Liars and Sisterworld were both great, WIXIW and Mess were both…fine, I guess…but it bums me out when bands that turned my brain in on itself inevitably make albums that

You didn't miss anything.

Oh, if Roman Candle was only posthumously released as a bunch of B-sides or something, then Elliott Smith's "album 1 track 1" would've been "Needle in the Hay,' which, yup.

Win pisses me off sometimes because he can fall on "up-with-the-kids rhyming couplets" songwriting when tracks 1 and 2 on the major debut were so BONKERS good:

So, what, they'll set this one in the 90s even though the characters won't be that much older?

Yeah, it's kind of amusing to think that in his first WWF championship run, he was pudgy and had surgery for his manboobs.

I'll never not take off points for the underground SWAT chase having a different amount of police cars depending on the shot. C'mon, Chris.

"It was Blofeld all along, also he's your adopted brother."

My wife and I dig the Bourne series and she's always had a huge crush on Matt Damon, and even we were both mehhhhhhhh upon leaving the theater.

Spider-Man 2 is about two scenes too long. But when he finally gets his mojo back, yeah. That's the good shit.

That scene is rad until you really think about it. Bourne could be anywhere telling her that.

IT'S ME, BOURNE! IT WAS ME ALL ALONG, BOURNE!

I'm claustrophobic and have a ridiculous fear of waking up in a coffin, so HOO BOY, HELLO THERE KILL BILL VOL. 2, FUN MOVIE THIS

Also, they legitimately shot in Philly/Boston/NYC, yes? This wasn't "America by way of Vancouver"? There's something to be said for that.

Over Memorial Day, I was day-drinking at home and watched a double feature of Troy and Super Troopers. Brian Cox is a god.

2008-2009 was when I first thought this, but that was only because the lo-fi noise pop (Times New Viking, No Age, Wavvvvvvvves) that I failed to get into around then was actually legitimately shitty in retrospect.

People try to affix a narrative to the Spoon catalogue that really doesn't work, which is how we get albums like Transference and Hot Thoughts turned into "duds" because we want to give Spoon a rise-and-fall arc. When in fact, all their albums are various shades of "very good."

I keep finding reasons to not have Kendrick as my favorite album of the year, and I think it's just my mind being contrary for contrary's sake. "Nah, man, Bloom is way more of a grower than Good Kid…. Nah, man, To Pimp A Butterfly is a statement, but Art Angels is MORE of a statement."

Old people are weird.
