Right? A lot of these characters' hyper-masculine personalities are the result of internalized homophobia so it's kind of bizarre to see them on some sort of "badass gay characters" list.

Yeah, I agree. As much as I love a couple of characters on this list (particularly Omar) I fucking hate the overall trend of "straight-acting" gay characters. It makes me feel like audiences will be comfortable with a gay male character as long as 99% of the time they're allowed to forget he's queer.
