I was pleasantly surprised by the DPi cars myself. Last time I saw DPs was the 2011 Grand Am race when that Camaro flipped over the T1 fence and 75% of the race was under yellow. The DPs sounded kind of lame, the GT field was mostly tube framed silhouettes, and the whole thing just kind of sucked compared to ALMS.

Not to call you out, but GTLM cars are a good bit quicker around Road America. The Ford GT that was on the pole this year did it with a 2:02 and some change. Xfinity qually was cancelled but they usually lap around 2:10s I think. You are totally right though, the Xfinity cars are fast as hell, their tops speeds are

Quiet down Jeremy!

I searched high and low yesterday for this, but couldn’t find a good answer, so I will ask here since it’s tunnel related? Is there any sort of speed record for a wheeled vehicle driving through a tunnel? What was the fastest?

All of my friends are out on the street in drag.

Yeah, as a local that was really sad to see. Great Lakes has been hosting some pretty shady events in the last few years. I have a friend that’s really in to the whole grass roots drag racing thing and he’s turned me on to the fact that a lot of these cars are being paid for with money from our lucrative heroin

I’d think LeMans would be much more taxing. In my experience machines are most likely to break during cycles of starting and stopping. Indy engines are built to be durable over quite a few races for cost concerns so I imagine they are detuned quite a bit below what they’re capable of. It’s a lot less load on an

As someone who’s driven both in anger, I assure you the kink is just as butthole clenching as the corkscrew if not as visually stunning.

Doesn’t matter! Hit your marks or you’re fired, there’s 10 people in line for your seat! Get on with it now!

They should have 3500 hp engines and be able to do burnouts all the way around the fucking track.

Rad! Normally I despise these federal government types, just on basic principle, but I’m glad my money is being wasted on auto racing. Hope this becomes a huge trend and maybe we can get them to siphon some of this supposed infrastructure spending that’s coming down the pipe and use surplus asphalt and stuff for

Long Beach sure shot down that “Honda makes bullet proof engines for IndyCar” statement. :p

Apparently never!

The current F1 engines have started to grow on me a bit with the weird Chewbacca sounds they make off throttle and whatnot, but I get it, people want the screamers they’ve had since the end of the last turbo era. Current IndyCar managed to make their turbo 6's sound pretty good, but still a pale imitation of those

Ultimately it’s all zeros and ones, if the original hardware is no longer available and there’s enough desire to do so, someone will come up with a replacement. There’s nothing magical about electronics, as long as the software can interpret the input and output matches that of the original equipment it doesn’t

I’m pretty sure he doesn’t have his own make or anything, but Lamborghini did make a special edition Gallardo as a tribute to him awhile back so I’m pretty sure this is what PepperM was talking aboot.

It’s kind of hard to admit this, but I almost think someone should call up Tony George to come do NASCAR like he did CART. Get together with the France’s and create a “Stock Car Racing League” that runs all the big high banked ovals with a focus on ‘Murican Drivers, find away to piss off a few big team owners in to

Oh god, every time I hear The Mile mentioned I want to punch a hole in the wall. Such a great track left to pretty much rot because of the NIMBY bastards in West Allis crying about noise from a track that’s existed before anyone in that town could have possibly been born, combined with some of the worst management

Shane Hmiel had so much potential back then. Anybody who doesn’t know his story, I suggest reading up on him. It’s absolutely incredible how much the kid put himself through, three failed drug tests from NASCAR and a lifetime ban, he fought his demons and recovered from his addictions to become a successful USAC

YEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAHHHHHH! FORZA FERRARI!!!!
