You can be a rich socialist, there’s absolutely nothing contradictory about it.

That’s true enough, they’ve essentially stumbled into a failing up situation. As long as there’s enough players still giving them money they can keep this going. Still, one would presume they actually want to make this thing.

You’ve got me there.

Out of curiosity, how would we know if this article wasn’t also written by an impersonator?

Hahaha, that dude getting pinballed between the XBOX and PS spoof accounts is good trolling.

I think the difficult thing here is they have so much money (and continue to receive it?) that they actually don't have to get it done.

This is exactly what my 9 year old says on a school day when the bus is arriving in 5 minutes and he hasn’t gotten out of bed. Then he throws his Emoji the Movie branded pillow at me.

Hey! That is unfair. They are proving you can run an elaborate scam about ownership without burning a forest to do so or shouting “blockchain!” every three sentences.  They have proven time and time again that the blockchain is not needed at all.

SoMuchProgress, they had to drop telling us about all the progress.

Seems like every time the game adds something they also add more ‘promised’ features to delay an actual release. If the goalposts for a release are moving faster than any actual progress being made, then it’s accurate to say it’s no closer to release.  We call this feature creep.

Feature creep is a death spiral for a lot of projects, including this one. It’s fine to offer new features as stretch goals (which is how this all happened) but you don’t then take those features and mux them across your master plan, because then your plan becomes a spaghetti mess.

I assume when this game releases, my great grand children will be able to enjoy it.  Just gotta make sure my account gets passed down with my estate.

Man, entitled gamers strike again. Just because they *paid* for a *video game* they expect actual progress and updates towards that game being completed.  What entitled babies.

One of the first projects I worked on at my agency involved working with a tech client that had put out a Star Citizen hype video a few months previous. At this point in my career, I was super junior. The game had been in dev for a few years but that’s not odd.

Sorry I misinterpreted the question and can’t edit the post, maybe if a few more people say the same thing that’s already been said the past will change.

I imagine (or at least hope to imagine) that a lot of his “fans” are kids or really young adults who don’t get the whole parasocial relationship thing. They’re really susceptible to hype and fomo, and a need to belong in some group.

It makes them perfect targets for predators like dumbass over here(since I refuse to

Huh. That’s... a move certainly.

Nintendo is going to sue and make them take it apart.

The game Control has me more pissed off when I die than any Dark Souls game I’ve played. Playing a Dark Souls game has nothing to do with a BDSM fetish. From Software knows how to make a game challenging.

It’s ok, you don’t gotta like it, but I don’t know why you gotta be weirdly bitter about it...
