1. "chart movement" is not always the same as sales data. until relatively recently (91—the advent of soundscan) billboard charts were not actually based on sales—they were based on units SHIPPED to record stores and didn't account for returns of unsold units.

paradigm shift as evidenced by *chart movement.* which is a questionable criteria as making it to the charts isn't the only evidence of change.

…and then later "pocket calculator" which was a radio hit in 1980.
"numbers" (same album) gets sampled in "planet rock" ALONG with
"trans-europe express."
