Came here to say this. Straight line thinking is a fool’s errand. Given the dire predictions and extremely short timelines being discussed , we need to shift to adapting to the new climate realities.  Some areas will be harmed, others may benefit.

No question congress has abdicated its responsibility over the last 75 year. “Let’s draft a vague ‘law’ and let the Administrative State handle the rest”. It gives the executive way too much power and leads to wild swings in execution from one administration to the next.
