Or just access the NYT through RSS feeds via Google Reader. Never hit the paywall once.

Hear, hear. I would not condone these things for routine everyday use. But with a highly energetic 2-year-old on a recent trip through a busy airport, with another child and lots of luggage in tow, it was nice to have that extra bit of insurance that he couldn't run off and endanger himself.

I get the whole Lifehacker "become your own expert" concept and God bless Tim Ferriss for his conquests but this is silly. It's a freaking marathon and frankly, if you don't prepare for it you deserve what you get.

Hear me now and thank me later, folks: DO NOT ACCUMULATE STUFF. Forget about the space, emotional baggage, whatever. Think about how you're impacting other people - because guess what, they are the ones who will end up inheriting it and sorting through it (read: throwing it away).

@mentalsticks: You've never lost a hard drive, have you? I mean *really* lost a hard drive?

Okay, forgive the potentially dumb question, but why do you need a Verizon plan? Is that only for universal web access from places without wi-fi? Would you still use broadband at home?

@doublsh0t: As a big RSS reader user, I'd like to use Twitter as a one-stop substitute. But I can't. With Google Reader I get everything in headline form, saved for me until I'm ready to read it. There's so much more noise to accompany signal with Twitter that I can't make the leap into making that my sole info

It would be great if they updated their clunky web interface. What with everything being in the cloud these days, I've never warmed to the desktop software, opting instead to only use the web site. But it can be surprisingly difficult to use.

As the update in the post indicates, this change to Windows Live Mesh Sync does include Windows Live Sync - which was once upon a time called FolderShare and may have even had another name in between (I don't remember).

Wow. This is pretty stunning. I rely heavily on Xmarks, and while the social aspect of it never really appealed to me, the bookmarking features (and more recently its other syncing features as well) were huge for me. This might start a migration to Chrome for me.

@gbwells: Ditto. This box was unchecked for me.

My first experience with finding lost money was when I located about $50 six or seven years ago for a job my wife held as a teenager. Since then I made a mental reminder to check every year or two.

@jbarr: If you don't have anyone else relying on your income (kids), you don't need 20x your salary. Just enough to pay your debts and bury you so your wife isn't put in a tough spot should you die.

Rather than letting programs like FileHippo run constantly and use resources, however miniscule, I just do a once-monthly checkup: 1) run a full scan on Microsoft Security Essentials, 2) run an anti-rootkit scan, 3) run Glary Utilities, 4) FileHippo, and 5) Windows Live Safety Scanner. Windows Updates obviously happen

Thanks for the update. Any chance of an update of Better GCal for FF 3.6 compatibility?

@cowgod: That is exactly what I do. Have had no problems to speak of and I can count on one hand the number of discs I've screwed up for the hundreds of attempted to burn.

Frustratingly, I'm a bit of both, in part because I have young kids. I like the peace and quiet of getting up early to do routine stuff like checking RSS and email, but if I really want to dig into a project I have to do so at night after everyone else has gone to bed.

I save lots of bookmarks for future projects, so I end up opening folders of bookmarks at once when I begin working on the project. For me, these bookmarks do not replace my current tabs - I assume this is because I use TabMixPlus and set it to open all new links in new tabs.
