I know $700 for 9 miles is crazy, but if that ride occurred in NYC on a really bad day, it could have been a very long ride. I've had a ride from Tribeca to Laguardia (10 miles) take over 1.5 hours. An outlier for sure, but so is the $700 tale mentioned.
