Full Acura. Half Audi

I guess power is available across a broader part of the rev range now. So peak hasn't gone up but it may be more useable? Who knows. One would think though that with the Golf R and the Focus RS being caught up, Subaru can't get away with the same old stuff anymore for the STI. I'd love to see them have a new engine

Tell me, in 2104. Does the WRX finally get the STI's center diff?

If I was to put some options forth, I'd say the 80's and (so far at least) 2010->now. I'll leave it to others to go into more detail

Well, for the past decade, this car is possibly the WORST example for the question.

Oh man. Every time I see an 8 series all I want to be is go out, buy a clean 840 and swap in a manual. Some cosmetic and suspension upgrades later and you got one hell of a cool/fun car

the best kind of surprise

even when in full on crash mode, that lotus was more composed than anything i've driven

Watching it a couple times now there are two additions to my statement.

That E30 had the bigger "oh shit" moment

Its the interior of an $18,000 vehicle that was released 4 years ago. So I don't really know what you are expecting. The interior works. Nothing fancy. Some people just don't care that the A-pillar cover isn't upholstered in velvet. That's why it's subjective and everyone has their own opinion. You say cheesy, I

a 305 horsepower Subaru STI

If that building is the one I'm thinking of then that's in the Nashua NH area (just north of the glorious Audi/Porsche dealer that almost causes me to wreck each time i pass it).

i used to work in N Quincy and would cut through the Blue hill to the Furnace Brook Parkway to avoid that sense warping singularity. Not only did i avoid all the idiots, it is actually a fun drive

it is not fun. I used to commute down that way. The two lanes the film maker was on merges with two more lanes from the right. I usually wanted to get all the way to the right for the very first exit after that. All of the people merging from the right wanted to get left to get into the HOV lane (entrance is also

reducing the burden of weight on any engine/transmission combo will increase your efficiency. part of Mazda's Sky-Active ethos is keeping weight down. Low weight is also a huge part of BMW's i brand products. If reducing weight doesn't accomplish anything, why would they use CF instead of steel?

I don't know how I was implying that. If anything I implied that going lightweight is an alternative to forced induction to accomplish the same performance and emissions benefits.

fair enough

And if the Tesla Model S is any predictor for the Model 3, it'll blow cars like the Volkswagen e-Golf out of the water, mostly because an eGolf will set you back around $35,000, give or take a couple hundred bucks. Sure, it's equipped to the equivalent of a top-of-the-line Golf TSi, and you'll get some tax rebates

But it also limits the power to just 74 horses and 129 pound-feet of torque. Top speed is now limited to 56 MPH, and the accelerator response is basically flattened with a steamroller.
