I’ll remain cautiously optimistic.  I want this to be good, but I’m cautious of any game that tries this hard to be jack-of-all trades.  Especially one that seems to be procedurally generated.

Joker is a grimy, unpleasant movie that shamelessly apes better movies, isn’t as nihilistically insightful as it wants everyone to think it is and only has what cultural cache it’s managed to accrue due to shamelessly plundering from much superior comic books it simultaneously seems to think it towers above.

I kind of enjoyed Joker, but it’s the worst kind of movie. Which is to say, it’s a film that purports to be about serious things, but doesn’t have anything to say beyond how terrible the way it is, because it can’t commit to anything. Just because someone didn't work on the previous entries doesn't mean they don't understand the inner workings. The inverse is true as well. Just because someone did work on the previous entries doesn't mean that they have good ideas for moving it forward.

It’s not, honestly. I work in an organization which sort of has that attitude, and the result is that a lot of people end up wondering WTF they can do right now to help out the team. Sometimes it’s nice to be able to ask, “What should I be working on right now?” and get a straight answer.

This is why I get sad when any smaller developer gets bought up by a large publisher. It’s never because they want the games and properties, it’s always because they want the people to apply to their preexisting properties. EA is notorious for this, but Valve is right up there with them. I knew this announcement was…

I mean, I wouldn’t call it terrible. Just....pointless. Its worst offense was giving us “Skyguy” and “Snips”, but we at least got a great show out of it (minus the Jar-Jar and droids episodes).

Fun fact, “Baby Jabba” was already a thing back when the CGI Clone Wars series started, in that movie that received worse reviews then Solo.
