Why do you ‘like that it was a practical, not digital effect’?

Lucas rewrote Brackett's script from scratch, then Kasdan took over. Brackett's script was quite poor (very little remains in the movie). Lucas was the main writer of what we see on screen, with Kasdan doing subsequent drafts.
