They play in a conference called the Pioneer Football League that is made up of schools that don’t offer scholarships in football. It includes some top basketball schools like Butler and Dayton that want to play football too, but on the cheap (it’s mostly small private schools).

There’s actually another, even more craven meaningless game on Saturday. Iowa State, which had a game cancelled due to lightning at the beginning of the year, will play Drake University, an in-state “rival” that does not give athletic scholarships for football.

He’s a lot like his former high school teammate Reggie Bush, in that they both had perfectly decent careers but because of their elite draft status were always expected to be more and just weren’t.

The owners wouldn’t be spending more money, they’d just be forced to allow players to have more control over how that money is allocated. They literally used the bus incident to promote this fight. They encouraged escalation on a personal level and outside the octagon every step of the way. They reap what they sow.
