Try WD-40. Using a razor blade, take off cooked on spots. Spray on WD-40, wipe gently to spread, let sit for a few minutes. Then spray a mix of vinegar and water, 1/2 and 1/2, and sponge it around, followed by a polish with paper towels. I find Barkeeper’s Friend too caustic for stove tops.
