I know Jackie and knew Dane. I grew up in the town they lived in. She is truly one of the most selfless people I've ever met. And she deserved this little bit of surprise and delight. We were all devastated when Dane was diagnosed, and I know this was a comforting gesture.

What the heck. The mom just leaves the kid there?! The dog could have easily come back. I'm a dog lover and usually find cats useless....but my hat's tipped to that cat for doing an awesome job of kid protection. Sardines for life.

Yeah, I feel where you are coming from. I was bullied a lot in school for being a poor chubby kid, so I also know that's it's totally plausible that this story is exactly as its being portrayed as far as the behavior of the kids.

I'm from the same area that this boy goes to school. I've been watching this all unfold with interest, as I'm an advocate for equality and understanding differences.
