Yeah, but even if there were more latinx creators, representation is always tricky, and a truly “authentic” notion of it is always out of grasp. The writer lost me when he mentioned recognizing Bad Bunny. I hate Bad Bunny, but I guess knowing his music is a sign of being latino, one that I personally find alienating.

An unnecessary distraction? Every comment thread in this article has done nothing but nit-pick over the term latinx, instead of actually addressing the point of this article.  If you want to stop wasting time arguing about this term, then stop arguing about it!  Seriously, you guys dont get bored of this argument?

To be fair, that joke wasn't far off from ending with "your mom" or "my butt", which I also would've been fine with.

Ok, well I was just clarifying why I used that example. Sorry I didn’t get you were joking.

Just from a glance, they share a lot of superficial similarities:

I’m calling it, this is the next Beasts of the Southern Wild. By which I mean it’ll be hugely overhyped, and ultimately disappointing.

WHAT!? SOME PEOPLE HAD FLAWS?! GET THE FUCK OUTTA HERE!!

There would have been a lot of theaters where audience members all turned to the nerdiest person in their entourage and whispered, “Uh, the fuck is that thing?”

Those ears are freaking me out. They just do not look like a natural part of their anatomy, and the effect is closer to the look of people completely without ears, with nothing in place to balance that out. Its unsettling.

I remember something! I remember Jeff Daniel’s character made computer games, and was like, some kind of independent game maker.  That's it though.

I dont think the success of these movies necessarily comes out of enjoyment. Some movies just have a gravitational pull that sucks people toward them despite their best judgement. They can be terrible, but everyone wants to be part of the conversation. I’ve been dragged to a few of these movies, and while I go fully

The mix of reactions in this thread are interesting. I like the Lion King just fine, but it’s by no means unassailable, and your opinion of the movie wouldn’t have been that uncommon or have counted as a “hot take” only a few years ago. Now it seems like we’re expected to look at all of Disney’s golden age and 90's

Simba: “Hakuna Matata?”

Gremlins 2 is a masterpiece.

I’m with Bautista on this.  Fuck those garbage fast and the furious films, and shame on anyone craven enough to defend those movies and take sides against a person for just expressing their honest opinion.

I was wondering about this myself; mainstream horror movies don’t often display a very clear grasp of the uncanny as a source of horror (I’m thinking particularly of the Annabelle movies, and how badly designed that doll is).  This new Chucky design looks terrible, but I’m wondering if that was intentional, and maybe

Yeah. He really was just a guy. The only advantage his doll body gave him was that he was beyond suspicion, and it made him semi-immortal, otherwise it was a complete hindrance.

Dracula:Untold?  More like Dracula UNWATCHED!

*plays tiny violin*

I guess we need good arguments now for things which don’t require arguments.
