So much this. If you MUST have a RWD Volvo, a 940 is a 240 with most of the stupid evolved out of it that is MUCH nicer to drive and MUCH cheaper to buy, because the hipsters have run the price of 240s into stupidland.

At $4000 I’d just buy it, no haggling at all.
There’s a shop near me that specializes in old Volvos of this ilk and condition, and this is about what they charge for them. That’s in Los Angeles, mind you. I imagine that a rust-free example such as this is like a golden ticket to Wonkaland for Volvo fans in the Northeast.
I would definitely buy one again at the right price. But the obsession over these is akin to being a mayonnaise enthusiast.
Agreed. IMO the following is because they look cool and don’t really have any modern counterpart (manual RWD wagon with a ton of cargo room). I love volvo wagons, but I view them like an enclosed pickup truck where you get to sit lower to the ground, which is kind of what they are. I agree that the driving experience…
This. Will. Happen.
Untill he comes home one day and she says she sold it for 1,500.
This is a nice car, someone should want it, but not for nearly $8k. This dude is definitely playing the game where you “sell” your car so that no one buys it.
Try again:
I briefly owned a 1991 Saab 900 back in the early 2000's. It had been sitting for a few years. I was in a tight spot and needed a car and traded for it.
Absoltuely the weirdest car I ever worked on. Engine is mounted 180 degrees the wrong way. Accessories all jammed between the firewall and the block. Somehow despite…
I agree, the C4 was a revelation when it came out, but the C3 wasn’t actually that bad. Sure, it didn’t boast the huge HP numbers of the pre-emissions cars, but the ratings were different and a C3 could still out accelerate a Porsche 911 of the time. I currently have a 1977 4-speed car... considering that even my 24k…
I was a kid when the C4 came out. I don’t think anyone that wasn’t alive then doesn’t have an idea of how shocking that car was.
Hold my beer...

If there’s one thing the 90s taught me, it’s that sports cars can’t have too many spoilers.
68-72 was the best era of C3.
Co-signed. They’re stunning cars and I want one badly.
I feel like the C2 defined the bodystyle for the cars even through this latest generation. The sharp, pointy fenders, the ‘aerodynamic’ shape, exotic materials or construction - all of that started with the C2.
The early C3's with the thin chrome bumper will always be my favorite Vettes. They were an iconic, beautiful design that didn’t look like anything else at the time:
