Weaveworld was excellent, as was The Great and Secret Show. Some years ago I heard there was going to be a TV adaptation of the latter but I don’t think it ever materialized.

My cousins are a pair of guitar virtuosos who come from a wealthy family. When they were in their teens in the late 80s, their parents popped for them to attend a very exclusive and very expensive three-day guitar camp with EVH. They were so excited it made Christmas day look like peanuts. Turns out, Eddie only showed…
Moranis went to a local hospital for an evaluation.
I read an interesting piece somewhere on how before 9/11, the aesthetic of movie explosions was basically “big balls of fire” like you see in Independence Day. After 9/11, you got “big walls of dust” like you see in Cloverfield. It’s largely true.
Love in the Time of Cinco Estrellas
“You’re not gonna believe this. He killed sixteen Czechoslovakians. The guy was an interior decorator!”
Yeah I don’t mean to shit all over anyone’s childhood favourite. I loved some wack shit as a kid.
I had no idea this film had a cult following. I was the perfect age when it came out - 10 I believe - and I thought it sucked even back then.
The Pirates! was an unexpected delight. Now I want Ham Night!
My thought was that special effects advance so quickly these days that CGI from two years ago already looks a bit dated. Seems like a risk that they’ll have to go back and retroactively process a bunch of graphics so it doesn’t look underwhelming. Mind you, this was a bigger problem ten years ago... stuff from 2018…
I lived in Australia in the 80s. Their ads were fucking bonkers and pretty awesome. Like this one:
It was really good, wasn’t it?
Would have made a perfectly fine headline.
Agree with both of you. I really wanted to love it. Think I made it through two or maybe three episodes. Maybe I outgrew it.
Me too I was like fuck, that wasn’t Cliff was it?
Right? Not sure what’s worse, to be thought an anti-Semite or a Woody Allen supporter...
Glad someone caught the reference and didn’t think this was some kind of anti-Semitic joke.
Jew see we’re having a special on Wagner this week?
Wow, every day I see things that make me feel old - favourite album turns 30, coworker born after 9/11 - but this makes me feel young; I was oblivious to the rich and respected career of badass old lady from GoT. RIP, Dame!
