@badasscat: I just replayed FFVIII and I realized "wow this was really linear until 2/3 through!" The only difference is the smokescreen effect of having a world map but only one place to visit at a time. FFXIII just gets rid of the world map fake out.

I really do believe we need to breathe and just take it in one episode at a time.
