Was the ending any sillier than opening an ark of the covenant and having people’s heads melt in claymation?
Was the ending any sillier than opening an ark of the covenant and having people’s heads melt in claymation?
It’s not weird, ironic, or even slightly unusual that this guy is starting to think that these stunts are not worth it. It’s just a gradual maturing that comes with age. Everyone’s set point is different, and the backdrop of a hard partying drug induced lifestyle where your main source of income came from being an…
I just think they’re joining the queue of tech companies who have tried to make a tech product happen before the tech was actually there.
Apple’s one saving grace is developer support. People stop using VR/AR when they’ve exhausted the novelty and don’t find any substantive use for it. I think Apple’s app support will lead to ongoing novelty and possibly even some practical use scenarios.
I have a suspicion that with this product, they’re releasing the unobtanium flagship model out the gate to wow people and hype up the segment, but will have a cheaper “SE” version in later cycles to cater to the masses. In this approach, they’ll have not only re-invented the market with their “spatial computing” and…
Apple is doing everything in its power to distance itself from the rest of the VR/AR crowd, but the reality is that this device, while probably nicer than most, is still a VR/AR headset and needs to follow basic tenets of form and function. That includes having an overhead strap to distribute load.
I don’t know if you could even say Sony ever “lost their lunch” to MS. Head to head, every generational console from Sony as outsold it’s MS counterpart by a good margin with the only one coming close was PS3 vs Xbox 360. PS2 vs OG Xbox was something like 6X more PS2 sold. And the PS5 is somewhere north of 2X’s the…
Back when I was more into PC building and game benchmarking, I actually found it fun to build PC’s. That was half the allure—spec’ing and building it. Trouble shooting and tuning. It was all part of the fun. The only downside was finding out you needed “X” connector because your drive/card/power supply didn’t come…
What did this deal cost, and how trivial was it to Steven Spielberg’s estimated $4-8 BILLION DOLLAR net worth? Sure the “other guys” chip in with like $125-550M net worth depending on who you’re asking.
True, but with an asterisk. There have been examples of well engineered new materials proven to work in submarines. Deepsea Challenger utilized syntactic foam for a good portion of the body design. Difference being, that program thoroughly tested the materials for target depth and life cycle. Granted, the actual life…
The videos of the Oceangate team assembling the steel ring on the carbon fiber hull in an open warehouse (ie. no clean room) with no means of degassing the resin was the absolute true meaning of “cringe”. They were just slopping it on with their hands at one point. I completely understand why their peers were so…
Actually, the end cap is out there on the internet. Sorry for making people look at NY Post, but here is one clear shot:
The color scheme on that photo above certainly reminds one of a C64, but the shape of the frame if viewed profile is much different. I actually really dig the form factor of this keyboard, but its lack of function keys is a full stop on any thoughts of trying to rig it to work with a modern computer. Even the C64 had…
I think I mistook slide 4 for an endcap, but looking back on it, it’s probably the steel ring.
This is obviously an armchair comment from someone with no engineering credentials, but it’s interesting to see what I believe to be the titanium end cap and seal ring to both be largely intact. Looks like both of those survived this catastrophic failure, and lends credence to the concerns of experts about their…
The popularity of seltzer these days have made people forget the superior (at least taste-wise) bubbly water is club soda. Q Club Soda, which can be found at Whole Foods, is fantastic. The “secret ingredient” that differentiates it from seltzer is just salt.
But then that’s the logical choice of just buying a $30. phone mount for your existing bike instead of shelling out $1800-2800 on one of theirs. They don’t want you thinking about that option.
Dominos had an absolute brilliant company revival starting around 2008. Prior to that, they were know as trash pizza that you could get quick and cheap. They started a rare marketing campaigned based on owning up to their own reputation as trash pizza and vowing to make things better. It was honest and they actually…
I understand the point you’re making, but would propose that if you ended up loving the movie, then the scores did their part. Just that most people don’t often listen to just movie scores, with some rare exceptions. Movie scores are often odd to listen to, particularly if they include the filler incidental musical…
How the hell do I work in Boston and completely miss a limited run D&D menu item?!? Although, I hate D&D’s coffee, so that might explain it.
