I sold my car and now my husband and I are sharing. I was able to take all auto maintenance, license plate renewals, parking etc. off of my budget.
Said goodbye this weekend to my much-loved but 16-year old car. It was getting increasingly expensive to maintain. My husband and I will see how sharing one car works out ;)
I work full time but also earn extra as a freelancer. Usually the freelance income just gets absorbed into the regular budget; instead, since Kristen initiated this challenge, I’m putting it all into the Christmas fund. >$800 so far!
I put away every $5 bill that came into my possession. Rolled them up and put an elastic band around them in a pocket of my purse. Just counted $80 which I can put into savings (as soon as I press them flat again ;)
Similarly, the advertising phrase ‘must-haves’ always sends me running in the other direction ;)

Kitchen gadgets and clothing, especially when I see something on sale. For these, I’ll use the 30 day wait rule (though, this being March, will be 31 days) Also, restaurants and snacks at work. I’ll make sure I pack food every day.
