Ah, I see. I thought you were referring to UX when you said functionality, instead of back-end development. In that case I can definitely agree, some of the back end issues are really annoying but those have been around since long before the visual changes around here.

Design = (Beauty + Functionality). So yes, if you're criticizing the functionality you're criticizing the design.
