Don’t let the looks fool you; even by the 50s this was still a fairly advanced car: FWD, unibody, double wishbone IFS, torsion beam rear, radials, reasonable aero (0.45cd with a correctly placed center of pressure).
The styling was pretty far ahead when it came out (early 30s). Two feet lower than anything else on the road, no running boards, no quarter lights, aerodynamic detailing like gutterless pillars and flat undertray giving a drag coefficient of about 0.45 when everything else was 0.6...
