My mom tried something like this. I just turned off the phone completely and we haven’t spoken since I reached the age of majority. If you text a kid with a real emergency and they don’t respond you have bigger problems than not checking their phone.

That would have been true for men, but many women used to die in childbirth, so marriages were still frequently much shorter.

From my understanding, that’s common in Hispanic communities. Outside of that it’s usually when the kid asks for it.

What makes it difficult is that frequently you don’t have enough cash in the drawer. They’re not talking about changing a $20; they mean paying for your coffee with a $100. Or you wipe out all the cash in your drawer and can’t make change for anyone else.

    Second this.

I’ve had hilarious pink clothing twice, both times from washing something red that I’d had for years and washed many times before. I have no idea what happened, but now I separate. It can happen when you least expect it. *glares at red-heavy wardrobe*

There definitely are. I learned the hard way.

A lot of the comments are making it sound like women are fickle creatures who just change their mind in the middle of sex sometimes. Women can have very good reason for withdrawing consent. Once I was coming down with a yeast infection and the first sign was discomfort during sex. I stopped sex, and the guy got really

I’d be worried about this playing into the “paid protester” nonsense, even though that’s not what it is. If phone calls make you nervous, calling Congressional offices is actually excellent practice. Write a script to read if that helps, and just make the call. Usually, they let you say your piece, thank you, and hang

I would also like to add that parents shouldn’t rely on floaties of any kind either. The water wings slide right off their little arms. With the rings around their waist kids have a tendency to flip over and get stuck with their head down in the water.

Seriously! I was a lifeguard in a fitness center for years, and you have nailed the general attitude. I still remember one woman who started swimming laps regularly who was very obese. About a year later she was half her starting size and her form improved remarkably, and we cheered her on every bit of the way. One of

That’s interesting, because I take public transit because of the travel time. If I were to drive to work, it would take an hour without traffic, and there is always traffic. On the train it takes 25-30 minutes. That’s where trains beat buses, or something like Lyft Shuttle.

At least where I live I think there is. It would have to be strategic as to where it goes and when, but I’m thinking late nights could be a lucrative time. Transit has ridiculous wait times and buses are unreliable, and you have a lot of young people out who shouldn’t be driving and would probably be happy to save a

I could see the value if it were outside commuter hours when public transit runs less frequently, but as it is this just seems redundant.

You just described my driving test perfectly, to the point where I wonder if it was the same DMV. I have so many sketchy Virginia stories.

Living that far out also means no job and no money to buy a car, so having a license wouldn’t have helped me anyway. And driving a six hour round trip just to hang out in a Kroger parking lot isn’t appealing.

Virginia was a lot like this when I got my license, about 12 years ago. The only difference was they had all kinds of restrictions on teenagers. As soon as you hit 19 they just handed it to you. I drove for the first time the day I got my license. Like your wife, I have also never parallel parked.

I didn’t live in a city and didn’t learn to drive as a teenager. My parents refused to teach me, and I didn’t push the issue too much because we were a three hour drive away from anything. I didn’t see the point.

There’s really no way to ask someone why someone isn’t fasting without it being awkard. Essentially, you’re either inquiring about health problems or their personal religious beliefs. It’s best just to not mention it.

I would also suggest having meetings earlier in the day, if possible, especially when Ramadan is in the summer. Afternoons can be brutal, and it will probably be more productive.
