Two main reasons: First, it's a cliche. Second, it's what happened between Clark Kent/Superman and Lex Luthor on Smallville. I for one want the Supergirl series to stand on its own and get out of Superman's shadow. I can only take so much "See, she's Superman in a skirt."

You're right, we have nothing to talk about because You Don't Get It. This is not something I say lightly because it's so often code for "You don't agree with me." I believe IN ITS FICTIONAL WORLD there are refugees who wish us harm. I also believe the possibility of refugees IN THE REAL WORLD who intend us harm is

Assuming she knew Cat was the person who was free falling, yes, she'd choose a mentor, someone she cared about, over a relative stranger, even the President. Fans like us like to focus on Kara's alienness but the show is also about her humanity. Saving Cat was a very human thing to do. Honestly, if I had a similar

I saw that particular conflict as one between doing the "right" thing and doing the selfish thing, of Alex struggling between two conflicting impulses, not being willing to make the hard choice. In the end it didn't matter who was giving the order, it was the right thing to do. Incidentally, if you rewatch the last

I doubt there was time for Supergirl to make sure Cat was safe and then save the plane/President. Just a day or two ago there was a post about Gwen Stacey physics. She'd need to fly downward tens of thousands of feet, decelerate, drop off Cat, and then fly back to the plane. If she had placed Cat in the line of fire

Sorry but no. We have an obligation to provide Everyone—refugees, immigrants, citizens, criminals, victims, etc. with Justice, i.e., with the fair treatment they deserve. Justice for the oppressed is far different from justice for oppressors. Rhea and her Daxamite minions belong in the latter category. Their "refugee"

We have no obligation, moral or otherwise, toward "refugees" who invade and take what they want, or who otherwise wish us harm. We do, however, have an obligation to protect peaceful citizens, resident aliens, and refugees. If you can't understand that, then no, we don't have anything left to discuss.

When you have a country to protect, only good refugees Do count as real refugees. I think most people get that. The guy breaking into your house might be homeless, a victim of circumstances, society, etc., but he's still breaking into your house. I realize nuance is hard but neither side has it entirely right.

Whatever Rhea might say, she and her troops aren't refugees, they're invaders. Refugees some in peace. Refugees, like anyone else, are "innocent until proven guilty." We've seen Lena branded as evil because she's a Luthor. We've seen aliens branded as evil because they're aliens. Max Lord did that last season. Neither

Let's look at it in the context of the show. There are apparently large numbers of alien refugees on Earth, or at least in the US, enough that they need legal protections, but the vast majority of them are not "bad evil refugees who want to destroy our way of life," just like human refugees in the real world. This

OTOH, some refugees invading while other refugees are protecting Earth from them gives the story nuance and keeps it from being as two dimensional as you seem to think it is.

Yes it is.

The fact that the show is terribly inconsistent about secret identities is due to bad writing. If Lena can figure out who Rhea is she should be able to figure out who Kara is. If Cat can figure out who Guardian is she should be able to figure out who Supergirl is. If Maggie can figure out who Kara is both of the

In the real universe no President would order the Secret Service to take him/her TO the site of an alien invasion in the first place. But they needed a way to get everyone together in the same place and that was it. Skype just wasn't going to do it.

I'd be disappointed of Lena did a Harry Osborne and became the next Lillian but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Agreed.

We don't know what they have in mind for this plotline or if they have anything in mind at all. In the meantime, there may or may not be a hole. The President has a dark secret, a big one. Are you telling me that's something novel? Why not wait and see how they handle it? If they mess it up then that's the time to cry

Why? Kara needs to have at least one person who is just Kara's friend, not Supergirl's. Both parts of her life should be full and complete. Clark doesn't live in the Fortress of Solitude. He has coworkers who only know him as Clark. Why should Kara be different?

No, we're not. Those characters no longer exist. General who? Lucy who? Max who?

Frankly, I had no idea where Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was going this season. I thought it was at least as much of a mess as Supergirl. To me, it's been almost unwatchable for a while now. It's been renewed for next season but I don't know if I'm going to keep watching.
