This episode was I agree. Most other episodes aren't, they are very adult and address very dark themes. Everything from depression to racial hatred.

I assumed there were lots of those fire trooper guys who were trying to burn down the forest.

And the news broadcasts were all telling people to stay in their homes.

Again, it is not a kids show and never has been. It is a family show produced by the drama department, not the children's department.

Tom Cruise is a nutjob though. I mean he is a scientologist…..

Yeah, hide was my favourite episode from the second half of season 7.

It isn't a kids show even technically. It is a family show produced by the drama department, not the children's department. It has always been a family show. This episode was obviously aimed much more at children though.

She was superb in the role. A stunningly good performance. Sorry if you can't see that. I don't even like Rose that much (wasn't a huge fan of the character) but Billy Piper's performance was nothing less than outstanding.

The surface of Mars in The Waters of Mars was filmed in a Welsh quarry and that looked suitably alien.

I don't think the BBC ever has. Doctor Who canon has always been a confusing thing.
It's nice that there is such a rich expanded universe to the show though, canon or not.
Great article by the way. :)

You are talking about your personal canon here though? Not 'official canon', because that really does only extend to the core televised show.

I'm sorry. But Night of the Doctor unfortunately did not canonise any of Big Finish. Canon doesn't work that way.
I'm sure you want it to be canon and so do I. But it isn't. Just because the Doctor mentions names that are the same as the names of Big Finish characters, doesn't make it canon.
The same way that the 6th…

Big Finish isn't canon though.
