Grow up :)

It doesn't really matter what Cornell has said. It's the BBC's show and they are the only authority. They have already made an official statement referring to canon so if he thinks they aren't allowed to I guess he should tell them. There is a Doctor Who canon and it has been referred to by the BBC. My point about

Come on, this is simple stuff. They can overrule them BECAUSE they speak on behalf of the BBC and previous showrunners do not. When a previous showrunner states an opinion in an interview he is speaking on behalf of himself, not the BBC. When an official statement is released by the BBC it is speaking on behalf of the

"And who are these people at the BBC doing the defining? The company itself can't have an opinion"….. Yes it can. Only the BBC AS AN ORGANISATION has authority over canon. No one person working for the BBC (including Paul Cornell) has any authority over canon whatsoever. A statement has been released speaking on

Doctor Who does indeed have a canon and it has been officially referred to by the BBC. People who claim Doctor Who doesn't have a canon are usually those who don't understand what canon is. I love Robert Holmes and I consider him to be the best writer in the show's history. I recognise his impact and contribution to

Well I'm sorry but it just sounds absurd to me. Why would he Timelords send the Doctor to the Aztecs? Why send them to the battle of Culloden? Why send them to the formation of a galaxy that almost destroyed the TARDIS? Why send them to any of the places the Doctor ended up?

Hell Bent was absolute rubbish. One of the worst continuity damaging wastes of potential in the history of the show. I really don't understand why people like it. Bear in mind that this is currently rated as highly as the superb 9th Doctor finale….. Ridiculous.

I don't think I've ever heard anyone claim that the Timelords were controlling the Doctor's TARDIS in those early seasons. It is certainly a fan theory that is nowhere near approaching "99% canonical".

All of the black and white 3rd Doctor stories have now been colourised for the latest DVD releases so 100% of Pertwee is now available in colour.

We all did…. we all did….. (cries)

I respectfully disagree. I can't think of any show in the history of television with a wider variety of storytelling than Doctor Who, you have everything from comedy to mystery to action to horror to romance… etc. Doctor Who is actually rarely just a "monster of the week" type show. Sure there may be a new threat each

Haha, sorry! :)

But I think you're confusing canon with continuity. They aren't really the same thing. Canon doesn't rely on continuity and things can be canon even if they make no sense continuity-wise. Canon is just the confirmed law of the show, which can include contradictory continuity (the UNIT dating controversy for example).

Unofficially canon for sure. I personally like to consider Big Finish headcanon. But I think official canon is something that requires official confirmation and the only spin-off media officially confirmed as canon by the BBC is The Adventure Games. The BBC released an official statement saying that the Adventure

Just more reckless. He was at the academy with the Doctor on Gallifrey so they are probably similar ages (maybe exactly the same age)….. although they would be unlikely to cross paths through time at a point when their ages are still equal.

The Night of the Doctor included a nice reference to the Big Finish audios but it didn't make them canon. A reference is not the same thing as an official confirmation of canonicity, unfortunately.

It's just a pity that the second revelation wasn't expanded upon whatsoever in The Day of the Doctor, with the Time Lords just generically presented as 'the good guys'.

Vengeance and Varos and Revelation of the Daleks are two good Colin Baker stories. His best performance as the Doctor is probably in Trial of a Timelord but overall that season is quite weak.

He was decaying because he had tried to extend his life beyond his last regeneration.

Doctor Who has had a lot more creative balls than Star Trek on the whole.
