To be fair I don't even think the proportions are even consistent throughout his own series. It might be intentional, or it might be something he's not concerned with. Either way, it never bothered me at all. I think it made the series more visually striking. It gave it a bit of daikaiju feeling.

I always kind of laugh with Transformers fans get upset about the height proportions in TF vs G.I. Joe. Soundwave turns from a 18foot robot to a human sized tape-recorder in the cartoon. Their mass is mutable.

I believe Ghost of Hoppers collects the Maggie focused stories from the first few issues of Love and Rockets Vol 2. (#1-10?). Then it was also collected in the newer Fantagraphics collections in the book called Esperanza.

Thank you very much to A.V. Club for spotlighting Optic Nerve this week. I've read so many mediocre comics lately, but Optic Nerve reminded me that comics is a field that can be worth discussing.
