Use Chrome. It will stream Netflix without Silverlight. Also works on OS X - I prefer Safari, but will use Chrome specifically to avoid Silverlight. Dunno about Windows.

About 8 years ago I bought a DVD online that was Region 2 (it was never sold in any other region). Had to apply a simple hack to my now 15 year old APEX DVD player to remove the region coding. I still have the player, solely because region coding is bullshit.
