they show in the making off, all the flying was done by normal racing drones, the cockpits and rear shots were models that they 3d printed and then put a camera in and wiggled em around to match up the motion of the drone so the sun was hitting em right etc. The actual ships you saw were 3D models that they tracked…

The problem with Doom 3 wasn't how it played, it played fine, it just wasn't Doom. And it came at a time when there was no real option to play something like Doom wich is why it was a dissapointment. There are plenty of options to play slower, horror themed story heavy, scary first person games these days.
