Speak & Spell is really underrated. Yes, it bears almost no resemblance to everything else by Depeche, but I think if you take it for what it is - a synthpop album written by Vince Clarke that just so happens to be sung by Dave Gahan - it's quite excellent. DM had a great run all the way through Violator. You really

No no no…. The only skippable ones are Akhaten, Journey, and Nightmare. I really liked everything else.

It was a limitation of the equipment at the time. The tape tracks were hard wired to certain faders on the mixing desk, and those faders were set to hard left or hard right. If the only thing on track 2 was lead vox, that was going hard right and there was nothing that could be done about it.

Pretty sure you meant MKS-50 and MKS-70 up there. I have both :)

minipops is actually a drum machine, some of the drum sounds in the track are from one. it's probably most famous from jean-michel jarre's early work. https://www.youtube.com/wat…

I watched this last night. I want my 90 minutes back. Don't make the same mistake I did - stay far far away.

You're missing out. Ginger beer is fantastic. Ginger ale is a weak pale imitation.

It was. This was after the PM and the President had their chat and the PM agreed to give his full cooperation.

I was extremely impressed with the entire hospital + drone + car chase sequence. It looked really close to a triple A summer blockbuster. The camerawork in the chase alone was just phenomenal. Great job, 24!

    Hell yes.

Absolutely. A+ This episode was lean and mean. Emphasis on mean.

@avclub-c20ad4d76fe97759aa27a0c99bff6710:disqus the Holmes script for episode 14 (well, presumably an early draft of it) is on the internet… Fire up your google.

strategical is an actual word in the dictionary.

Came here just to make that same joke.

Crazy timing. I just finished reading http://www.amazon.com/Final… which goes into extreme detail on this very point. There's a light around the board that we don't see on TV. When Trebek finishes talking, a production assistant pushes a button that activates the light. When the light comes on, you can buzz in. If you

It was one of the first Event TV things I was really pumped for… and it was also one of the first Event TV things that I was kind of let down by afterwards. It's not bad but it didn't live up to the hype. (What does?)

yikes, that's me! i know the internet is eternal but it's still surreal to see people dig up your nearly 20 year old episode review. at least I had good taste then! (and i still love Homer vs Patty & Selma.  Just watched it with my daughter (who wasn't born in 1995) a few weeks ago. Ratboy forever!)

I'll have to take your word for that.

    Stop! Stop! He's already deaaaaaaaad!

I don't think any of us expected him to say that.
