Delaware still has busing today. Wilmington is divided up and kids are more or less bused into the city for elementary and out for middle and high. Delaware also has highest private school rates per capita.

I just meant that a white audience would be inspired by the struggle and perseverance as well. My dad's not the most liberal guy, but I was watching the original Roots once and he came in and said how great it was, and that he couldn't stop watching. I think History could've done a better job marketing this one, too.

They get treated like moderates before they get the nomination, then they're portrayed as racists and misogynists by the media until Election Day, then afterwards they act like they loved them all along. See McCain or Romney as examples.
