Ugh yeah, CBR forums are the worst.

My friend read it and said it was a lot of setup. He and I are huge fans of the old Marvel series. It's one of those old series I'm always on the lookout for in back issues bins. I have no doubt that the IDW series will likely be very different, but I realize that going into it.

I picked up the first issue of Micronauts the other day, also written by Bunn. I haven't read it yet but in the editor's letter at the back, he explains how big a fan of the Micronauts Bunn is, so I'm hoping for good things.

My thoughts exactly. Damn!

My fave also.

I read that Stewart piece, it was really moving. I've been in full Cooke memorial mode, reading some of his work again, reading about him (you're right, there are some really interesting stories online right now about him, including ones about some epic dinners people had with him over the years), etc. I even ordered

I really love Arthur and Mera so much, but I dropped the book after Jeff Parker left. I'll take a wait and see approach on the relaunched Aquaman I suppose.

DC's Future Quest seems like it might be children friendly, based on my reading of the first issue.

I've wanted to read Sinestro. Might see if the library has trades. Anyone read Bunn's Magneto? I read a few issues and liked it but never kept up. I hear it's very good.

That's a tough one, there are so many. This one popped into my head, though:

Crap, another good looking comic I need to read. In truth though I've been waiting for the trade on this one.

Carpenter doesn't get enough respect outside of b-movie and genre fans like us. He really deserves to be seen as one of the more important American filmmakers of the latter part of the twentieth century. His movies endure.

YES! I posted about her up above before I saw your comment. She is hands down, one of the movie badass characters of all time.

I think it's important we also mention Laurie Zimmer, who played Leigh. She was a revelation to me when I first saw this. She was tough, no nonsense, and smart and to me gave an iconic performance. She's definitely one of my favorite action movie/b-movie characters ever.

And in Carpenter's case he made several other perfect or near-perfect films too, including Escape from New York, Big Trouble in Little China, and Assault on Precinct 13.

God this movie is so good.

He's no Dick Sprang!

I really loved the start of the first series, then felt like it hit some lulls, then I got energized with it again as it hit the back nine. Someone once told me that it reminded them of Claremont era X-Men and I really have to agree (and as a fan of that era this means I enjoyed it for the most part). I started

I might try to catch up with it on Unlimited once they get a bunch of issues on there.

You too??
