I got into Far Cry 2 after I played Far Cry 3 and 2 could have been one of my all-time favorite games were I not spoiled by the improvements 3 made to the series. The attempts at realism in that game are really impressive and rare.

Wow I wouldn't have believed you until I read up on it. I'm guessing they had to do that because of the blowback from the bazooka, but I'm surprised they couldn't just fire it from under brush.

Like everyone else said Carentan is weak thematically. But the battles are some of my favorite in the series (the storming of Carentan especially). I forget who says it (Malarkey?) but the 'Where the fuck is everybody' line is memorable for some reason, as are the chickens getting mowed down by the MG42.
