I think the author has blinkers on. He is correct that Maher believes, with Sam Harris, that Islam as practised by the vast majority of its adherents is the "mother lode of bad ideas". It's a position worthy of analysis and debate. However, this writer (and many others) seem incapable of entertaining the possibility.
