I agree with everything you've said, but strictly speaking, this movie does not have the stereotypical happy ending. It's quite realistic in that sense.

I just saw this on flight. I did not like it at all. The musical parts did not do anything for me, so I kept fast-forwarding those. What was left was the story. And well, that didn't really catch my attention either. For me it just dragged on and on.
