Unless you’re a Laurens heir, it’s surprising that you mention hapless John Laurens’ quickly quashed effort to form a black regiment in 1782.

Read more. A good place to start is Patricia Bradley’s “Slavery, Propaganda and the American Revolution,” which extensively analysis the treatment of the Somerset case and related matters in the colonial press.

That's a valid point, and certainly would be fair for the show to present some British keeping pace with Americans in the mistreatment of slaves.

It may be inadvertent, but you highlight the underlying problems with this despicable show. It's bad history, which may be par for the course, but it's also amazingly racist.
