    Thanks for that link!

Jesus Christ you were not exaggerating. That is on the level of Pitchfork's Kid A review. Are we sure it wasn't supposed to be parody?

Same. Well, when I first watched the show I was a young teen and Rory was basically my idol so I was upset at her being a fuckup.
But rewatching it as a uni student and finding Rory a lot more annoying grating it was really nice seeing her both failing and being called out on it.

    > "Yeah, the Asian dude over there," works a lot faster than "the third guy from the left in the glasses…. no no… not my left… your left… yeah… him." Watching people deliberately trying to avoid describing someone using racial terms is frustrating if amusing.

I can't stand the term "people of colour". It seems to have completely caught on as the "correct" term but it still drives me crazy how it drives this concrete barrier between white and not white, like we're different entities and how everything not white is just lumped in this one encompassing category.

    Eh, I'd watch it.

The trainwreck that is the whole DCEU right now is probably the best entertainment it has to offer.

Why? It's a lot of fun laughing at and making fun at other cultures interpretation of your culture (like engrish in anime and chinese knockoff products), why should we deny other cultures the chance to make fun of our shit in the same way?

Really? Because that just sounds like it would be a complete abomination to me.
With Harry Potter, I really felt the strength of the books lay in the amount of little details in the world. Sure we don't need to know every detail about how Harry spends his days at Hogwarts - though the films left out a LOT that we DID

I agree, though I personally enjoy Bioware RPGs. At least the Mass Effect series. But I don't play games for their story generally - why would I when other mediums do it a lot better. Dishonoured is one of my favourite games, but I couldn't give a shit about the plot or characters, I just loved the gameplay and

Same, I thought it was pretty obvious. It really annoys me when people call something bad writing when they themselves are missing the point entirely.

What's disgusting about it? He's just making fun of both himself, and stereotypical "she gives me boners" commenters.

The problem is, that I thought the fact that he was joking could not have been clearer. To you it might not have worked, and he could have made it clearer, but imo that would have likely ruined the joke and made it unfunny.
Different people (and cultures) react to things like sarcasm differently. What might read too

Yeah, I think that's part of what I like about her.

How far are you in the show? Because I had a problem with something the show changed from the comic, but I don't want to spoil. Though so far I like how it handles issues of rape and consent as a whole, probably better than the comic.

What did you think of the comics take on the whether Jessica was raped or not issue? (I'm only up to episode 8 on JJ, so I don't know the shows take yet). By which (Alias Spoiler) I mean that she wasn't raped, but Killgrave made her beg for sex but never touched her

The Netflix shows ARE MCU though

I'm probably just being overly cautious - I tend to be around vague-but-possibly-spoilers.
Also, this is possibly the stupidest question ever, but do you know how I can use my disqus account here as my AV Club account? I've been a lurker here for years and haven't bothered to figure it out really, but it's annoying

Yes, but you could make that argument about other two parters like flood/lake and I really enjoyed both the flood and lake episodes which I couldn't say about last weeks.

I'm not a huge fan of Season 4 (or Turn Left for that matter) but the Library two parter and Midnight are some of my favourites episodes for sure - that was a great run.
