I shed a proud tear seeing her wearing a non shake and go wig

I mean, I recognized that and I still laughed because it really is the weirdest part of the trainwreck that is AS1: Chad's obsession with the Hunger Games and insistence on bringing it up during every Untucked episode

I think the PC aesthetic was somewhat self-aware (the singing, however, was trash).

I appreciate that Phi seems to be genuinely contrite and has owned up to how awful she was in S4 without making excuses, especially considering how Sharon has kinda gone off the deep end

I think we may be talking past one another. Suzanne was responsible for the death of the child in her flashback, and was taken to prison. Yes, in a better world she would be in a facility that could handle her mental/developmental issues. Her sentence probably will be increased for attacking guards if the show follows

No one (and by that I guess I mean the overall participants in BLM) is claiming that they are killing because of a raw love of evil. They are killing because they are a part of an institution that allows them to.

Jesus H. Christ this alone makes me firmly decide: the show did a shitty job of portraying this death

SHE'S IN PRISON

I believed the two characters getting together, not least because in earlier seasons Poussey was established as hopelessly, almost foolishly romantic, but Soso's transgression was SO tasteless (like even using the phrase "crack whore," let alone assuming your girlfriend's deceased mother is one??) that Poussey would

I think that's why making such deliberate and obvious BLM allusions rankled some people though. Because in that case police forces who protect officers who unjustly shoot, kill, maim, and attack black people with a completely unwarranted and unnecessary amount of force is the "absolute bad guy."

I don't think humanizing people is a bad thing. However, I will be watching the next season of the show v e r y closely, since the last time the show built up a Big Bad-type villain, it was Vee, who was shown to be a completely rotten person through and through. Before that, I guess you could say Pornstache was shown

She is! She's in the bathroom as of the final scenes, with a phone, though probably not a gun (since even Humps was not supposed to bring one to work)

This is two separate issues. One is that the writer's room is overwhelmingly white, to the point that there are only two writers of color when many more than a few of the characters are.

It felt particularly insulting in this case, too, as if we wouldn't be able to sympathize with Poussay's death if she had the same flaws we saw in Seasons 2 and 3 (problems with alcohol, depressed, self-destructive when it comes to sex and relationships). She was already a fan-favorite character BEFORE they sanded all

I know it's not much of a comfort, but there are, at least, several other black/queer characters left, Suzanne, and, arguably, Sophia (this one is more suggested that outright confirmed, but she is a woman who's been married to a woman and seems to still be in love with that woman, so there's at least some evidence

I think the show has gone out of its way to demonstrate that Caputo is a generally nice person who relishes in scoring easy moral victories, but that when things get complicated, he falls into a spiral of resentment and paralyzing fear where he actually manages to do nothing. MCC has been one complicated quagmire

But it also doesn't help anyone if Caputo claims to have all of these good intentions but folds every time a stiff breeze of corporate scumbaggery passes him by

The only reason the prisoners even knew about his statement was because Taystee happened to be hiding under her desk instead of back in the dorm where she was supposed to be, so I think that's a bit of a charitable interpretation.

I'm somewhere between you and the season's most passionate critics. I've been thinking about the finale since I watched it a week ago, trying to figure out where exactly I stand. Emotionally, Poussey's death was devastating. As two episodes of TV, it was almost perfect.

Somehow I didn't realize that her father was a fucking GENERAL. I so hope that there is hell to pay for this.
