I'm thinking there are two "Cities of Light", the first being ALIE 1/Jaha's corrupted version and the second being ALIE 2 with all the Commanders past and present.

AI that destroyed the world is messing with people's brains and seeking an upgrade from a creator that fled the planet to get away from her, foreshadowed by Raven's bit about a version 2.0 not being needed unless there was something wrong with 1.0.
Wonder whether Lady in the Lake or Peep Show was the true inspiration for this episode, maybe both?
In the books he's tailing the crew of the Roci from when they get off the docks.
Yup, I think S2 will wrap up LW in the first couple episodes then do all of CW. They have an expanded episode order, CW doesn't really have a big climactic moment partway through like Eros in S1 that would serve as a logical season finale, and…
Yes, the Anubis was after Eros in the books, they find the directions to the asteroid with Julie
We're about 50% of the way through the book right now but the finale should cover a lot of ground as action moves quicker in live action than it does written. That said, it's looking like this season is going to end at around the 70% mark of the first book.
They've already confirmed Season 2 has an expanded episode order so I imagine we'll get the finale of LW and all of CW. There isn't really a point like Eros that they could leave off in CW and Avasarala has already been established so a lot of her CW story can be condensed to fit the whole thing into the latter 2/3s…
My only complaint about this episode was the massive amount of PIS going on.
I get the feeling that Ros was much more than just his former boss. The way he slipped up while saying "when we were hired" makes me think he might have been her ex-husband.
Agreed. There are definitely ways to keep him around but not always the main threat (Taskmaster, anyone?).
I just hope they don't plan to off Ward soon, because despite what Oliver thinks he's by far the most compelling character on the show.
I mean they certainly had chemistry, but this is a comic book spy drama, not a romantic comedy.
Nice try, Oliver
Didn't you read the bullets? Ward would be more compelling if he was just shirtless in front of the camera more!
No it's only fridging if it's a female companion for a male hero! That's why the author didn't bring it up with Andrew, or Hunter (almost), or any of the other times this has happened on the show because that's literally how Ward operates.
Did you ever see The Brink reviews? Those were the worst I've seen on this site yet.
No don't you get it? They can only use awesome alien planet with as yet unexplained enigmatic force of evil once! Why would they ever spend more than one episode exploring an entirely different planet on a comic book spy show when they can have more romance scenes?
Coulson has clearly never played Portal or he would have pulled his parachute as soon as he went through
