Meh, to be fair most of this controversy just boils down to some members of White America being deeply ashamed of themselves. If you think the majority of Black America gives a damn about the Oscars or even mainstream movie reviews as a whole then I got some news for ya. We don't. If we did then 'Think Like A Man Too'

Can we turn this into a pornography? Then we could get Sibel Kekilli and call it Shae's Anatomy!

True but aside from the aesthetic I always found the time setting secondary to Grease. I didn't mean that the 50s weren't as segregated, I just meant that the racial issues that plagued the time had very little bearing on the world of Grease. Its a lighthearted musical, casting changes should be able to be made

Nailed it! Seriously though I wasn't trying to be an ass or anything. It just seemed odd that it had bothered you as a kid. It always rubbed me the wrong way too but I didn't see it till I was like 13ish and I was the youngest with three older sisters so my disdain was always pretty clear to me.

The gender politics bothered you as a kid? Did you spend your childhood at a liberal arts college? (Unless by kid you mean your teen years, in which case that would make a lot more sense)

Well you did call me racist for making a joke. All I did was compare you to my own grandfather. Unless now you're implying that I'm racist the other way and that I secretly hate my grandad on account of his being white

To be fair I had no idea you were white, you were just acting easily offended and uptight so I took an educated guess. Don't worry my grandad acts the same way. Of course he was born in the 40s…

Yes I do. Grease is a lighthearted high school musical, why wouldn't you have a racially diverse cast? Its not like its some gritty drama set during the days of segregation. Now if someone decided to remake The Roaring Twenties with a a racially diverse cast then I think that'd be an interesting decision worth

Maybe its just the fact that I'm a mutt but i thought it was fairly obvious I was making a joke. Now if you want I could change 'ethnic' to 'minority' if that would help to ease your white guilt

Well satire isn't supposed to be toothless.

Because giving each other high-fives for letting all the ethnics play too is so much more progressive.

”(Its also worth noting that Grease: Live’s cast is diverse in a lovely, low-key way that musical theater has been embracing for years.)”
