I noticed some canned sound from Half-Life 2 a few episodes ago. Now that was jarring.

Yeah, I guess that's strange… I thought the episode was really good, but wasn't quite as knocked out as everyone else.
Actually I think there may be one episode which really hit me emotionally, but I can't remember… I might try to find it later.
I think the reason might be a bit more prosaic; the animators are developing, and — I'd be surprised if I were mistaken here — the show's recieving a larger budget.
Yeah I did watch it, and I did enjoy a couple of episodes in their own right. The Magic Man one in particular. But it's the second type of enjoyment — the artistic, somewhat detached and analytical type. It wasn't enjoyment on that emotional level I used to love the show for so much. And if you think about those…
Or stifling.
I noticed a marked change in the animation. It looked cleaner and more detailed, the style was different (Pearl's wobbly face for instance), there was fancy editing, and there was also a dynamic camera shot through space.
Many thanks! AT isn't totally dead to me… it does still pull something enjoyable off from time to time, like "Evergreen", but it'll be an enjoyment on a very different level. It scratches "that itch" very intermittently now. When I learned that Penn Ward had stopped showrunning, and now that I see how great Rebecca…
I would love it if the book were Garnet's. That makes the most sense to me, as we've kinda seen that she has genuine struggles with talking ("the children are dead" comes to mind), whilst showing a desire for improvement. She's the character that the inanely simple advice might actually be a helpful revelation for —…
Just dropping in to introduce myself to all you SU fans. Recently became disenchanted with Adventure Time after the receding of Pen and the leaving of Rebecca, so I cast around to see if there was anything that could provide my hit of fuzzy feelings. Surprise surprise, Rebecca's show was the answer. I'm really blown…
I was confused by that, because I skipped that episode after enduring one minute of awfulness.
I do prefer the old music a little. I didn't think Steven interjecting at the start worked very well, although I understand why they did it (to emphasise Steven's a gem). I found the animation a bit jarring, but I think that's just because it's new. Objectively it's much better.
Exactly the same, I thought they'd changed formats! It's the mark of supremely talented writers.
"Sorry. I panicked."
Possibly the funniest line of the series. I love Garnet so much, largely because of her amazing voice actor, who's pitch perfect at drawing out the humour of her pithy lines. "Garnet, master of comedy" was my favourite line of this episode… just the whole notion of comedy as another technical…
It shares some very general similarities, but on the whole the story shakes it up in some rather fundamental ways. For instance, the warriors the ants hire turn out not to be warriors at all. The ants end up saving themselves by their own means; the story is about the power of the masses when they believe in each…
I mainly just wanted to say it's better than Cars… 92% vs. 72% on RT, read some reviews if you want an in-depth analysis I guess.
No. Dinosaurs are not birds.
It was pretty awesome. Definitely better than Cars at any rate.
Nah, I mean I don't care what happens at the Battle for Winterfell, which was the most riveting cliffhanger in the books.
Says who? I seem to recall he was doing it because the Crown had stripped him of his lands and he wanted them back.
I thought you were joking by pretending to miss the point and being over-literal. My comment was about narrative reasons, and the lack of any narrative reason to bring Gunther back, not the actual physical explanation the show gave.
