    Inspired by "The Anarchy" perhaps?

I don't mean to be rude but you're kinda just posting random tangents — one might even say straw men. I never said that all rapes have consequences or anything to do with that, so I'm not sure what the purpose of your comment is, or how it engages with what I said. "Consequence free" in the context of the article you

That's well known. I don't really see how it's relevant to the discussion though. What I said is that, whatever its faults may be, in any case the scene wasn't there for the sake of "titillation".

The audience is not the same as Jaime and Cersei. Moreover, the audience is not remotely expected to find Jaime and Cersei's psychology normal. Come on, did I really need to say that..? You knew you were conflating things there…

Well, confusion about the definition of rape is a separate issue. But as to how many people consider rape to be unacceptable: a "consequence free" environment is a very unusual situation. It's not really possible to tell whether that's a fact about rape, or a general fact about people's attitudes towards crime and

I agree. I find it kinda concerning. It may be that D&D didn't think there was much substantial material left to GRRM's story, and that therefore he's bloating the last two as he did with Feast and Dance.

Remember when Dany pissed off her slave followers at the start of this season by publicly executing one of their own? That never really came full circle. Now I think it has. The point is, it's not a simple situation.

For that matter I can't imagine we were supposed to be titillated by someone fucking their sister next to their dead son either. Where do people even get that idea?

Burning people for religious reasons wasn't always viewed as a serious crime either.

I think casting calls have gone out for them for next season.

Yeah, no, that's not what I was saying.

    Seriously..?
The little matter of Jon Snow getting stabbed to death?

Pretty sure Hizdar getting stabbed by the Harpies was supposed to be the clarification.

For me it was Obara dialling the "butch frown" up to 11.

The execution of that scene was hamfisted in so many ways.

Uh… did you watch this episode? We know what the "shocking thing towards the end of the season" was, we just watched it.

I also hold out hope that Beric replaces Stoneheart. One of my favourite minor characters from the books and show. I wasn't impressed by his summary replacement with a much less likeable character.

I thought GRRM had told them the overall endgame..?

    Not now, that's the point.

I don't feel like the books pounded that into me at all, no more than they pounded into me that Kingslaying was inherently "the worst". The books emphasise that they are culturally the worst, but it totally subverts that idea with its readers.
