Called it! Wes was a Red Shirt!
But from their perspective, Kevin is innocent and is being wrongly accused. They love him and are desperate to protect him. If you felt your son was being targeted unfairly and you had the financial power to go on the offense, wouldn't you do it? For them, Anne is unhinged, and their son is a victim. The only…
The show does do a lot of research though. I'd guess that the perspective of Eric's mom is one they actually found in connection with real cases.
A couple - Hector; Tony and his family. Aubry's mom and Aaliyah had a nice moment. But I had it in my head that Taylor would move past his assault, that Kevin's friendship with Eric would trump his own prejudice, that Dan would gain some perspective and become a real leader. Those characters seemed like ones with…
I'm guessing he's an Anonymous-like computer vigilante. Maybe he hacks the school, the Lacroixs, etc?
Re Eric: he had one great moment in the first episode, but he also stumbled around a lot otherwise, and even he seemed surprised to make the winning shot.
There were some positive moments at the end last year but there was a lot of genuinely earned tragedy too. You understand how the people who ended up in tragic ends got there.
I think Eric will end up shooting Wes in the scene where Wes is confronting him. The fact that a minor character has such a big moment screams Star Trek red shirt to me. Then the show will be flipped, because the victim becomes the perp - putting us in a position to sympathize or empathize with or at least…
I've read that Ridley really wanted to make that he said/(s)he said point last season about the murder. You may know who's involved. You may even know who pulled the trigger. But when there are only two people there, no one but those two can ever really know exactly how the event unfolded. It's works equally well…
He's definitely deluded himself about his impact on "his boys." Of course, when things are going well, it's easy to assume that everyone is listening to your platitudes and learning from them. I would like to think his argument with his wife - where she nailed all his delusions - and seeing "his boys'" less than…
Leslie wasn't relying solely on Eric to be the student voice. I think she was hoping that if she helped him speak up in a certain way, the student body would galvanize itself around him. That clearly didn't happen. After his speech, Dan had to goad the students into giving Eric a half-way decent applause.
Eric's dad is much like Anne, though - he wants to be supportive, but he's having a hard time figuring out how to do it.
I think a week or two makes sense in Taylor's storyline, especially if you consider that maybe he's rushing into something with Luke because he's desperate to move past the Eric incident and to make sense of his own sexuality.
She clearly loves her son, but I don't think she is considering him very much in her drive for some greater justice. I think she did at first, but she has become so single-minded now that when she thinks about th school it's more about how they made her feel (and this other parent) than what they did to Taylor.
Just like the murder last season, I believe this is exactly what will happen. The event at the party was just a jumping off point to show us the after effects. The crime is less important than the impac.
I would agree here, but last week was a freaking B-, and it was one of the best of the season and definitely better than this week.
Yes - there is lots of "hinting" camera work surrounding both Kevin and Coach Dan. I don't think they are involved in something together, but I'm waiting on the show to pay off on some of this suggestiveness.
Taylor is definitely going to kill someone.
I tend to disagree. There are definitely some communities that embrace diversity and some that grudgingly tolerate it, but there are plenty of others that are openly hostile. And especially in sports communities, it can be stifling.
Did anyone catch the look Kevin gave Coach when he said Eric was on of the bravest people he knew? i'm not sure how involved Kevin was, but he definitely knows some dirt on Eric from the party. Either that or he's just that homophobic that the idea of coming out has no merit to him.
