Did you read into the show a hint that Dan's interest was unseemly or are you referringn to other people's comments?

Exactly. It's a delicate balance. The justice system doesn't do any favors for rape victims. The stats on successful prosecutions of reported rapes are horrible, and if you dig into stories from victims and how they are treated through the process, it's no wonder that some rape victims commit suicide after trials

Finally caught this Ep, and I really like where everything is going.

Plenty of parents don't force their kids to go through that though. And some adult
Victims choose not to go through it. And sometimes, that really is the best thing for the emotional and mental health of the victim. What the therapist was saying is absolutely true - not every victim is equipped to handle a trial.

How bout depicting them as human beings? This show is not likely to demonize anyone, nor is it likely to handle anyone with patronizing kid gloves. Regardless of who ends up being gay or curious or whatever, they are also going to be portrayed as a complex human being with sympathetic moments but also plenty of

I haven't seen the episode, but the show tends to do its research. wouldn't be surprised if there's a real life inspiration for it.

Oh I found all the characters last year to be sympathetic (some more than others), and I love that Ridley takes the time to try to explain his characters and their actions. He definitely creates character driven stories, but I'm a total sucker for a good coming of age story and well-written young characters.

There are actually quite a few in the news, usually involving teammate on teammate assault. Apparently, there was also a similar one at an upscale Indy suburb a few years ago, which some have speculated may be a source for the show. This TN case is horrifying.

You think you feel old? My age starts with a 4 AND I had no idea what Grindr was.

I agree, and I think it will be a combination and, hopefully, all those issues will be addressed. I'm sure either Eric or Kevin is gay, and so we'll get a glimpse at the homophobia in sports and what it's like to have to hide your true identity in the hypermasculine environment.

Maybe, but I feel like Leslie would easily put Dan's head on a plate to save the school fundraiser. What better sacrificial lamb for a team scandal than the coach?

John Ridley. I like his directing style. I like that he has a strong voice behind the camera, but if you thought this was off putting, you should see an ep from Season 1, which is Ridley directing plus very aggressive editing - it's jarring x 100.

I think for the reasons I mentioned above. Primarily because there's a victim that the audience can care about. It was tough at times last year to find anyone to root for.

I kind of thought this was one of the points. Or, if not quite this, then: one of the most effective ways to overcome hatred between two sides is by giving them something they can hate together. It's not love that conquers hate, but more righteous hate.

Or Man in the Wilderness, with Richard Harris. I believe that one was also based loosely on Hugh Glass.

It was awful, but a lot worse than that gets said on twitter on a daily basis. This is probably a direct quote from the twitter feed of Curt Schilling and/or his daughter after a pic of her was posted a year or so ago.

American Crime Story has BABY KARDASHIANS. What could be more important than that!?!

I liked that bait and switch quite a bit, too - hopefully a little preview of bigger surprises to come.

Regina King is amazing. All the acting is good and so natural. It really does sometimes feel like you're peeking in on something that's actually happening. I really like the casting on the teens.

I actually really like her character. I mean, not *like* like her, but I think her character is really well conceived, and Regina King really fleshes her out beautifully.
