Mellie's not smart enough to stand for herself. This is why she called Cyrus in. The best move for Mellie is to sign the divorce papers and get on with her life as a Senator. Yet, she clings to Fitz like she's too stupid to exist without him.

That is because Olivia is a thinker and Mellie is a whiner and impulsive like a child. There is no doubt once everything is settled Olivia will survive and hopefully so will her relationship with Fitz.

Olivia and Fitz fan here and I like this season a lot. I'm more of a Fitz fan, but I also root for Olivia. She's not some entitled spoiled woman who wants to be President "just because". I bet Mellie couldn't tell any of her supporters WHY she wants to be President. Susan Ross for President!!

I think Scandal is off to an excellent start this season. I see more and more fans excited about the show again. S3 and S4 were awful. Scandal feels like Scandal again.

Excellent post. To the chagrin to Gwen and most people who post on this site, Scandal will never be Mellie's show. I feel they want to take Olivia's spot, but it is not going to happen. Mellie and Fitz are best as enemies. Olivia and Fitz are best as lovers, working together, and even their fights are sexy. The Lover's quarrel from 501 was hilarious.

Olivia and Jake have Anti-chemistry. It is really embarrassing how awkward their scenes are. I feel bad for Kerry. She looked bored.
