I think Mellie betrayal of Fitz was Mellitz version of Defiance for Olitz. Fitz did the same to Olivia after Defiance. He kicked her to the curb. So his reaction to Mellie is keeping with his character. Betrayal is something he won't accept.

It was a beautiful scene. Scandal is fiction, so relax. The same President went to Olivia's apartment and went to war for her. Its not anymore realistic than a sitting First lady becoming a Senator in a State she doesn't even live in. So if the writers can invent crap for Mellie, why not do the same for Olitz. Its all…
I read around the internet that some Mellitz fans was hoping for a sexy reunion. On what planet? There was nothing romantic going on between them and really they are more dysfunctional than Olitz . What woman would ask her husband mistress to continue to sleep with him? Mellie in 1.07 and 3.05. Fitz is back to being…
Sounds like an accurate assessment of this recap. Very personal and totally bias.
There is still a lot support for Olivia and Fitz love story on other sites. This is a Mellie Stan site and of course the writer gave the episode an F and bad review. It was a very good finale.
I agree, Olivia and Fitz relationship is important. There are so many stories and drama that can come from their connection…
Best finale since season one. I enjoyed the Olivia and Fitz reunion, Eli Pope going to jail, Fitz firing Cyrus and Kicking Mellie out, and the manipulations of Lizzie. Can't wait for the Presidential Divorce story that is coming in season 5. About time.
Since I don't have stars in my eyes for Mellie, I love the subtle way the writers are proving Mellie is just another Sarah Palin or the female version of Mitt Romney who wants to be President just because she feels she's entitled to be President. Susan is good. She wants to make real changes. She read the Brandon Act.…
It is only a matter of time before Mellie screws something up and Olivia ends up being her campaign manager. I see it coming.
That was funny, but true. Other than being a scorned woman that some sympathize with, I don't see anything about Mellie that would make her a great President. She's reckless, impulsive, and totally self absorbed.
Only in her mind she's the best. On the show it always blows up in her face. She'll screw it up and Olivia will have to fix it for her.
You are incorrect. Hilary was first lady from 1993 - 2001. She ran for Senator of NY after she left the WH and was elected the same year in Nov. 2001. She didn't run as First lady and Carol is correct, the story is ridiculous.
I agree. You can't help but to feel the love between Olivia and Fitz whenever they look at each other. Twitter was going crazy last night.
I don't where these people come from or what show they watch. But Fitz is not a whiner. Out of all of the characters, Fitz is the least one to whine. He seems to accept his situation and tries to deal with it. THe biggest brat and whiner on Scandal is none other than Mellie Grant. The entitled white woman who wants to…
Kerry Washington and Tony Goldwyn chemistry saves another episode of Scandal. I like Cyrus and appreciate his backstory but it was kind of boring. I was so glad when Olivia told Mellie and others to shut up. Mellie for Senator is truly a joke. Still think she's entitled to something she doesn't want to work hard for…
Pretty good episode overall. Lois and Olivia conversations brought by season one and two instances where the cases of the week reflect Olivia's life. When Rose said she has waited 40 years for Lois, Olivia and the audience collectively thought about how long she has waited for Fitz. About six years, but not all his…
I'm always baffled by those who say Mellie is smarter and would make a better President than Fitz. It is like they believe in the Idea of Mellie that simply doesn't exist. Everything she tries or attempts ends up blowing up in her face. She impulsive like a child and she is very reckless. Just because her husband…
I liked this episode a lot. It was a nice break from the usual Scandal madness. I guess it depends on what walk of life you come from. I don't get the criticism, but I understand where it comes from and that place is not so nice.
So in other words blame Fitz for Olivia spilling to Ian. Its okay. He's blamed for everybody's problems, disappointments, and life failures on the show. Olivia, Cyrus, and Mellie all want constant gratitude for something Fitz never asked for. Rigged election and Olivia's daddy killing his child for a win. But of…
Great post! I found myself agreeing with all that you wrote.
I agree with you Kaston. This is still Olivia's show. It is hard to root for Olivia at times but I definitely don't root for Mellie either. She's just a supporting character. The stories continue to move through Olivia and the White House with Fitz.
