I had never heard it before, but knew it was the prologue to "War of the Worlds", and instantly recognized Richard Burton's voice. I'd recognize that voice anytime, anywhere, under any circumstances.

Kinda makes me miss the Bennetts, hillbilly family syndicate run out of a general store in the "deep dark hills of eastern Kentucky…"
I kind of like them, too…and am sometimes guilty of them. Too much Dickens growing up.
Well said.
And that scenario would be more interesting than most of what we've seen so far!
WAY too busy…trying WAY too hard.
Didn't last long, though.
I'm somewhat interested, but don't know if I can keep watching or not. Last week I only got through it by thinking about how the sets reminded me of the Hyperion on "Angel", but still felt like I needed a shower when it was over.
This week more of the same, and I'm losing patience with the unnecessarily graphic sexual…
Oh, yum! I hope so!
If you're blatantly threatening someone, you deserve to get sprayed in the face with bug spray.
Hamburger Helper and tater tots….typical 1979 supper, except they should've been eating it on TV trays in front of the TV.
The judge was one hell of a lady….
a great old broad….
a real smart-ass….
I hated to see her go!
Yay! Another Angel fan! That always puts a smile on my face.
I'm glad! I figured there would be others out there thinking the same thing. I wonder how many of us there are.
I remember admiring the set design of the Hyperion, even down to the lamps and wall sconces. The lobby was elegant yet warm and inviting. I enjoyed that show so much, I felt like I went on those adventures…
Dear Ryan Murphy,
Please seek professional help…immediately.
I'm sure you can afford it.
I resent the fact that it made me feel a little schizo, going back and forth from thinking things like "What complete and utter depraved crap that shouldn't be on TV and makes me worry about society going downhill" to "Well, that small moment had a little poignancy and decent acting and I wonder where that will go".…
Like Madonna. No, wait…all of her acting was bad.
I'm also upset that Vera Farmiga didn't get nominated. I don't think you watch Bates Motel, but believe me she's an absolute marvel in it.
I watch and love The Americans, too. What were they thinking??!!
I'm glad you've had such a terrific day. I think you asked me about football before and I forgot to answer your…
Hey, I'm assuming you'll be watching the Emmys tonight. I'm rooting for Ben M. Even though I haven't seen him in that role, I like him AND I trust your judgment.
I'm mad at the Powers That Be behind the Emmys, though. Still don't know why the hell Justified didn't get any nominations. It aired during the eligible…
I just commented on the manor house, too…and the modern-day rain gutters on blatant display. But then, I'd rather look at anachronisms than close-ups of knives and swords being thrust into pregnant women and through heads.
Did anyone else notice the modern-day rain gutters/drainage pipes on the supposedly 14th century manor house? And the manor house itself was a couple of centuries too new.
Kind of distracted me from the all the overdone violence and brutality that we're supposed to think is cool.
And why do they think anyone needs or…
Well, phooey. It won't let me do it here and as your profile page is private I can't find another thread you're on. If you send me a reply from a different thread maybe I can post it there…
