The connection between reality and Homeland stories has been one of the key threads of the series.

You see they don't have to to make this work. It's unnecessary because everything you need is already out there. Who needs to make a negative story about Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton? The Web is chock full.

I say Virgil comes back and saves Max.

I actually thought the writers were going to bring Dana back at one point. To come to an understanding about her dad.

Should be pointed out this isn't "Fake News." It's more like a Fake Audience. It's not making content up. It's making users up and creating fake conversations I think one character (Max?) called it a social media boiler room which is a good description. It's how prominent things (CNN) and prominent people

I stopped commenting here a few episodes ago because, you know, the show sucked. My last comment pointed out that the writers had lost the show's soul which has always been: "Crazy Carrie Saves the World." They sold the show's soul for a lecture on Islamophobia. Politically Correct but Artistically Garbage.

This weepy Islamophobia stuff is just plain stupid. Carrie is Superman. She is supposed to save us. That's why we are drawn to her.

Well "the smile" was good. That's the Carrie I want to see going forwards.

You may have missed the part where that does not exactly qualify as espionage tradecraft. In fact, the only tradecraft Carrie is exhibiting this season is that of a criminal defense law investigator.

I see that Joshua has picked up on my criticism over the last couple weeks over Carrie's uncredentialed partnership in a law firm. The far bigger issue here, as Joshua points out above, is that in this season Carrie has almost completely stopped being a spy.

I actually liked this episode and plan to re-watch it. So long as we minimize Law and Order—Islamists Division, I think the season may have a chance.

Cool info. Thx!

I don't know. It's just the law. As I said, non-lawyers can play lawyers or take any type of management role in a law firm. Consultants/independent contractors don't work out of law firms either mostly for privilege and confidentiality reasons.

Interesting take.

Actually I think I remember reading a backstory where she was recruited by Saul out of Princeton I think (which is one of those CIA recruitment schools). I think she was an Arabic major or something.

I don't think the CIA recruits out of law school. The FBI does though. The CIA tends to have a handful of schools that they recruit out of, usually it's undergrad. I graduated from one of those colleges.

correction.

Fair point. But here is a show that's been taking it on the chin for years about being horribly Islamophobic. I disagree. I think the show has taken an American perspective on international terrorism and that may make some feel uncomfortable. But the show is called "Homeland." Some the best TV critics place

Every TV show should be true to its art and identity rather than bow to political correctness.

I guess the ratings will tell all won't they?
