Their earlier albums are more hardcore than anything Bad Religion ever did, to be fair. They also managed the transition to a major label without totally sucking. I am much more of a Bad Religion than RA fan, but credit where credit is due.
I suggest you revisit the aptly titled 'No Substance'.
