This movie was a big time Mugatu moment for me. I felt like everyone who told me to go see it was on crazy pills. Heavy handed social commentary tacked on to what should have been a lean heist movie and a self-consciously grizzled performance from Jeff Bridges.

Are you being sarcastic? War has never been "proud and noble". Before the Industrial Revolution we just had to work a little harder to kill each other, we were still plenty good at it.

Some women like it.

That's what I was thinking of.

I haven't seen The Birdcage in a while, and on the face of it the premise seems regressive but I remember a whole bit wherein Robin Williams doesn't want to pretend to be someone else because, "it took [him] a long time to become who he [was]".

I was about to say, "even the Sandler movies?" Then I remembered how great his cameo in The Wedding Singer is. "The best man? The better man!"

It's a perfect ending as it is, but I would've watched more.

Denzel's reactions to Tom Hanks in Philadelphia are tough to stomach. Jesus, what's your problem, guy?

Worse AF?

I forgot all about that. I've seen the movie a ton but it's been ages since I read the book. One of the great tragedies of losing Hannibal was that we didn't get to see what they did with the Starling/Buffalo Bill arc. I wish I got to see Fuller's take on it after the great job they did with the Red Dragon.

"Don't tell me that you love me [Holden McNeil]!"

His "solution" to the situation is horrible but it's pointed out in the movie that he's really just a conservative, missionary-with-the-lights-off kind of guy. "Horrible" is a bit strong for a mid-20s guy with shit to work out.

I only use "woke AF". Is that better?

"'What's a Nubian?' Bitch, you almost made me laugh."

I don't know, I don't think we're really supposed to be on his side by the end. She slaps him in the face with a, "I'm not your fucking whore."

I recommend a vast phone survey:

Red State?

Sorry, I added that last line on as you were typing I think.

Anyone who points to a movie as "proof" of anything is not to be trusted.

"Billy's not a real transexual, but he thinks he is, he tries to be."
